Its confusing.

In an urban environment, that which is constantly on the move, there is no one who finds it interesting to observe the world around him. The mind is occupied with the traffic blocks, financial struggles and above all uncertainities- uncertainities in everything, in relationships, jobs, fuel prices, cooking gas and water supply! Strangely only a minority still enjoys the sunset and the night sky on the terrace..

Sometimes I wonder at the differences, at how huge is the gap between the cultures of two places that are seperated only by a distance less than 200 kilometers. The way society functions in a city and a village is so different, that at some point we are left with the question of what really matters in life. For back at home, what really mattered was how happy we were. It was about the dishes made for the neighbors child, the taste of 'adapradhaman' for sachu, the chilly to be added for lechus dishes and finally seeing them eat it till they are full. We believed that a newyears eve, with everyone around a fire was the best party ever. It was important, back there, how your best friend was managing things when there is a financial struggle. So much mattered there, that people were living in seperate homes just to avoid confusions on who would cook and who would clean.. Just that and otherwise everyone was family.

There are fights, but none severe. And there you would never find an instance where a woman is disrespected and the guy is left free with his limbs in proper figure. People really care. And what I find missing here, in this great upcoming metro city is that. No one really cares. No one.!

People are scared even to smile. People are scared of their neighbor, people are scared of everybody they do not know. And in that great terror, we fake a smile, greet the familiar ones and find our happiness in air conditioned malls. It certainly is sad at how we have forgotten the essence of social life, at how we forget that we actually belong to a really beautiful place which we spoiled for no good reason.

I think its high time we unlearn a few things. A few things that actually force us to worry only about the traffic and improper water supply, a few things that has stopped us from worrying about the clouds during the sunset.
